MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – The Reapers Motorcycle Club hosted a charity ride on Sunday afternoon to raise funds for the Huntington Beach State Park nature center. The nature center burned down in July after it was hit by lightning.
Organizer of the “Ride to Rebuild,” Chris Price said the idea came from a club member named Sheldon Banks, who is also a park ranger. Price said it was important to get the community together to benefit such an important place.
“Huntington Beach is a place where everybody goes to relax, have fun and learn,” said Price. “That is the reason why we’re here. To raise money, to show everybody in the state that we want to build it back.”
Hundreds of people showed up to the ride on Sunday afternoon which included a raffle and a poker run to different places along the Grand Strand. The group even rode through Huntington Beach State Park and past the site of the old nature center. Price said it was great to see so many people come out to support such a worthy cause.
“We have individuals that ride, we have clubs that ride, everybody comes together,” added Price. “It’s a big brotherhood and sisterhood.”
