HEMINGWAY, S.C. (WBTW) – A Georgetown County animal center wants to know what happened to an dog they received that was emaciated and covered in burns.
Chester, as he’s fondly called now, will take about two months to recover from his injuries, the Saint Frances Animal Center in Georgetown County reported. The dog arrived on Feb. 11 after being found on County Line Road near Bullard Road in Hemingway by a woman who saw him wandering in a backyard.
“Chester’s recovery regimen includes *lots* of chin rubs (but somehow still never enough for Chester’s liking), and rewrapping his bandages as he cleverly squirms out of them,” the center posted on Facebook on Tuesday.
“This boy is down, but no way is he out – we’ll take that spunkiness any day.”
Chester isn’t out of the woods yet. Burns can lead to secondary infections that can be fatal, the shelter wrote. “But he’s a tough cookie to have made it this long – so when he’s out of the woods, we will reach out to folks to find him a foster while he heals!”
Offers from people interested in fostering and adopting Chester already are being posted on the center’s Facebook page.
The center is offering a reward for any information that may lead to the arrest of the people who did this to Chester. They ask anyone with tops to call 843-546-0780 ext. 5.
