Researchers with Coastal Carolina University’s Clay Brittain Jr. Center for Resort Tourism predict a busy 4th of July weekend along the Grand Strand.

A report released Thursday predicts average occupancy for its sampled properties to sit near or above 96 percent. Researchers say that is up one to three occupancy points compared to the same weekend in 2014.

The report says 88.1 percent of vacation rental properties available to rent were reserved for the week of July 4-10; however, vacation rental property reservations in Horry and Georgetown counties are down 1.9 percent compared to the same week of 2014.
