MADISON TOWNSHIP (WDTN) — Authorities are investigating a shooting at a Butler County high school in Ohio Monday afternoon.

The Butler County Sheriff, Richard Jones just met with reporters and said they have an idea of a motive but he did not share that with the media. We expect names of the victims shortly.

Two 14-year-old boys are being evaluated at Miami Valley Hospital by the hospital’s trauma team in Dayton, Ohio. They are reportedly in stable condition. It is unknown if they were the victims who were shot.

It is believed that the students suffered non-life threatening injuries at Madison Junior/Senior High School, according to the school’s Facebook page. The school is located on West Alexandria Road in Madison Township, near Middletown.Two students were shot and two were injured, possibly by shrapnel, according to Rodney Muterspaw, Middletown Police Chief.

Police and parents are on scene trying to make sense of Monday’s events. The suspect is reportedly in custody, Madison Local Schools confirmed on its Facebook page.

The students have reportedly been flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment.

“Madison Jr/Sr High School will be dismissing as soon as we have received clearance of the scene from Butler County Sheriff.

Madison Elementary School will dismiss 1 HOUR EARLY. At this time we are still on LOCKDOWN. No students can be picked up at this time as we are not allowing anyone in or out of the building,” according to a post from the school.
