MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A man claims he was stabbed in the chest after walking back from a Myrtle Beach convenience store late Monday night.

According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report, the stabbing happened at 100 Cedar St. The victim told police he left his building Monday around 11:45 p.m. to walk to a nearby Kangaroo gas station for cigarettes and other items.

Myrtle Beach Police say when the victim returned to the front of his building, a man approached him and demanded he drop what he was carrying. The victim said he attempted to punch the suspect when another person walked up and “stuck him in the chest with an object.”

The victim claimed once he was stabbed, the two people ran away towards the Carolina Breeze office building. Responding officers reported the victim drove himself to South Strand Hospital, where he was treated and later interviewed by investigators.

A Myrtle Beach Police Department report describes the first suspect as a thin, black man standing about 6’0″ with thick facial hair. The victim told police he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. The report describes the second suspect as a black male with a stocky build, standing around 5’8″. The victim said he had no facial hair and was wearing a gray pullover jacket.
