MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Police say a man was arrested for shoplifting after driving a motorized cart through a Myrtle Beach Walmart while eating chicken tenders from the store’s deli and stuffing clothes into a backpack.
An incident report from Myrtle Beach Police says Jason Daigrepont, 50, of Myrtle Beach, was seen by a loss prevention officer riding a cart through the sporting goods section of the Walmart on Seaboard Street while eating chicken tenders and potato wedges from the store deli. Daigrepont placed a six pack of socks, red shorts, red backpack and a blue shirt in the basket on the front of the motorized cart, the report states.
While continuing to eat the food he had not yet paid for, Daigrepont stuffed all the clothing items into the red backpack then drove the cart through the jewelry section where he paid for some candy, but not the backpack or any items inside, police report.
Daigrepont was stopped in the Walmart parking lot by loss prevention and was later taken to the Myrtle Beach jail by officers on one charge of shoplifting.
