A man reportedly broke into an apartment, ate a corn dog, and rode away on a victim’s bicycle.

According to a police report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, an officer was flagged down by a woman in the area of Highway 501 and 3rd Avenue South around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The woman reported to police that her apartment had been broken into earlier on Monday and she didn’t have a phone to call the police. The officer gave the woman a ride to her apartment, where they met with another officer.

Upon arriving to the apartment, officers observed the lights were on and the door was open slightly, the report states. Officers cleared the home, which was empty.

The victim said she left her apartment around 9:30 a.m. on Monday and returned around 1:30 p.m., according to the report. When the victim walked inside, she saw the suspect, who is not identified in the report, eating a corn dog. The suspect reportedly said he was hungry and stopped by to get something to eat. The suspect then left and the victim said when she looked outside, she saw the suspect riding away on her bicycle. The victim also says she then noticed her cell phone was missing.

The victim said she recognized the suspect, but didn’t remember his name, the report also says.

Officers noted damage to the door frame, which the victim said was from last week, according to the report. Because of the damage to the door, the door didn’t secure correctly, which police say is how the suspect entered the apartment.

When officers were leaving the apartment, the victim reported a black ballcap that she said didn’t belong to her. The hat was on the kitchen counter and officers collected the hat.

No information on suspects or arrests is available.
