DILLON, SC (WBTW) – Water and hot meals are being provided today at the following locations and times in Dillon County:
Latta – City Park beside Fire Department – lunch at 12 noon and dinner at 4:00 p.m.
Lake View – Community Center – lunch at 12 noon and dinner at 4:00 p.m.
Dillon – First Presbyterian Church – 12 noon — 5 p.m.
Health and welfare teams will be going door to door today in affected areas across the county distributing food and water as needed.
Composed of National Guard soldiers, SLED officers, and SC Forestry Commission personnel, these teams will also provide residents with information about where assistance can be obtained.
Assessment of road conditions will continue today. Over 50 roads across Dillon County are impassable. Citizens are warned not to drive around barricades; some hazards do not become visible until it is too late.
The SC Forestry Commission’s Incident Management Team deployed to Dillon County Wednesday to assist with Hurricane Matthew flood recovery efforts.
The team is providing an organizational structure to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of relief efforts.
In addition to the SC Forestry Commission, agencies involved include Dillon County, City of Dillon, SC Department of Social Services, SC Emergency Management Division, SC National Guard, SLED, American Red Cross, Town of Latta and the Town of Lake View.Information above is from a submitted press release.
