HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Firefighters saved several animals during a house fire early Thursday morning, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Battalion Chief Brian VanAernem says the fire started just before 8 a.m. at a home on Cane Branch Road. A second alarm was called to help control the flames.

VanAernem says while the people inside were able to get out of the home, firefighters were able to help remove several animals inside.

The fire caused “extensive” damage to the home. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
