MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – People who have experienced damage to their properties after Hurricane Matthew could be eligible for assistance from the Realtors Relief Foundation.
Applicants could receive up to $1,000 to help with monthly mortgage or rental cost of temporary shelter if you were displaced after the storm.
“This is through the National Association of Realtors. It’s a relief fund for any natural disaster and this year we are taking it on local level. It was on the state level last year, but this year the local associations of realtors are overseeing the different cities,” Heather Tenney, VP of Member Services said.
“There are some requirements, such as we need to show a bank statement either electricity or a phone bill showing that you have access to that property, it has to be a primary residence and it goes toward the mortgage or rental, it does not go towards damage of the property so it’s just to help to get through the hump of that next monthly payment,” Tenney said.
