MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Rape Crisis Center of Horry and Georgetown Counties will be offering a four-night training to become a Volunteer Victim’s Advocate. The training dates will be October 24th-October 27th, from 5:30PM-9PM in Myrtle Beach.
In the aftermath of a sexual assault survivor’s trauma, volunteers provide comfort and support. Volunteers sign up for flexible shifts of their choosing to provide crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment, and victim advocacy with an emphasis on morale and emotional support to the victims of sexual assault and their families in Horry and Georgetown Counties. Also, they assist the staff of The Rape Crisis Center in Community Events, such as Health Fairs, and Community Forums helping to educate the community about RCC services and sexual assault issues. RCC has a call center in place, which allows a volunteer to help from home.
