MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Rain and construction efforts forced a partial road closure Tuesday afternoon on US 17.

According to a press release from Horry County, the outside southbound lane on US 17 Bypass from East Coast Honda to the Glenns Bay/Holmestown Road intersection is currently closed for repair work due to washout issues caused by utility boring under the road.

Contractors are working diligently and will re-open the lane just as soon as possible, the release stated.

The temporary closure could take up to 24 hours.
