The following are her keys for making a good hoagie:

  • Bread. Make sure to use the right bread that is both moist, yet dense enough to hold all ingredients
  • Balance the fillings when making the sandwich using a variety of textures (silky, crunchy, dense, creamy)
  • Be conscious of your layers. Start the sandwich with meat and cheese that are dense on the bottom of the sandwich, add crunchy elements to the top. This helps with slippage and loosing contents of the sandwich.
  • Top it off with dressing. Choose a dressing that compliments the rest of the sandwich. Think if you want sweet or salty, light or heavy.
