CLINTON (AP) – Jordan Downing scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Presbyterian roll to an 80-69 victory over Coastal Carolina on Thursday night.

Presbyterian (10-20, 6-11 Big South) breaks a three-game losing skid while Coastal Carolina (21-9, 12-6) had its four-game win streak snapped and remains in third place in the conference behind High Point and Charleston Southern. The Chanticleers are now out of contention for the Big South title.

Presbyterian led 64-49 before Coastal Carolina used a 16-6 run, capped by Warren Gillis’ six straight points, to pull within 70-65 with 2:51 left.  The Blue Hose hit 6 of 12 free throws before the Chanticleers made another basket with 1:23 remaining to seal it.

Markus Terry scored 19 points, DeSean Murray had 16 and William Truss 14 for the Blue Hose, who shot 53 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range.

Gillis scored 18 points, Josh Cameron had 16 and Badou Diagne 10 for Coastal Carolina.
