On Valentine’s Day at 8:25 pm the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Dollar General at 904 Lamar Hwy for a robbery, Sheriff J. Wayne Byrd said..

“Upon arrival, the store clerk stated that a Hispanic male walked up to the register with items to purchase,” Byrd said in a press release.

The suspect then told the clerk to give him the money tray.

“He kept his hand in his pocket and it appeared he had a handgun. But the clerk never actually saw a gun,” Byrd said.

The clerk gave him the money and he left the store, which is just 1000 feet outside Darlington. It is believed that he left the scene in a black Ford Fusion.

The suspect is described to be a Hispanic male around 25 years of age weighing around 190 lbs and approximately 6’3″ tall. He was wearing a grey hoodie with front pockets and sunglasses at the time of the incident.
