MYRTLE BEACH, SC –  Evan Patrick Jumper, 17 of Myrtle Beach, has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award.  

Evan will be recognized in ceremonies on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at The First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.

A member of Troop 850, Jumper is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain The Eagle rank, according to Jerry Williams, Scout Master.

Evan worked to plan, design, and build a podium as part of an overall master plan to an existing fire pit at The First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. His project included utilizing on-site resources which included a thirty plus inch diameter oak tree section used as the podium top. He also took on the work to rebuild four benches that were part of the fire pit, along with added landscaping and site maintenance.

Evan has earned the required 21 Merit Badges and had the opportunity to attend Philmont Scout Ranch. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow. Evan joins his older brothers Ben and Joseph as Troop 850 Eagle Scouts. Evan is a Senior at Myrtle Beach High School, three-year starter for the Varsity Football Team along with being a two-year Team Captain. He was class President his Freshman and Sophomore years and has been a Student Senator his Junior and Senior years. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Evan volunteers at his church and at several local venues. Evan will finish High School this December and enroll at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where he has verbally committed to play football for the Paladins. Evan’s personality and ideals truly embody the Scouting Spirit of doing a good turn daily.
