While President Trump says the report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is a complete exoneration, his own attorney general was a little less enthusiastic.
Meanwhile, as News13 Washington Correspondent Brie Jackson reported, Democrats want to see the entire report.
Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) agrees the release of the Mueller report marks a great day for President Trump.
Attorney General William Barr’s letter outlining the Mueller investigation revealed there was no evidence of collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Sen. Graham said it’s now time for the country to move forward and focus on a common goal – election protection.
“If you just think Russia likes Trump and hates Clinton, you are missing the point of what they are trying to do. They are trying to divide all of us against one another,” Sen. Graham also said.
Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) said the political fight isn’t over.
“All it says is we didn’t conclude that anybody on the campaign rose to the level of criminal activity,” said Connolly.
Connolly believes the interactions with foreign adversaries sets a low bar for presidential elections.
“Are we going to now accept that it is normal in presidential campaigns for a whole campaign team to have 100 contacts with a foreign adversary” he said.
Barr said he doesn’t believe there’s enough evidence to pursue the matter any further.
Now, lawmakers want details of the report released.
“I hope soon to have as much of the report released as possible,” Sen. Graham also said.
Barr also said he plans to release as much of Mueller’s report as possible and could be called to testify before Congress soon.
