According to Lt. Raul Denis, officers were called to the Scotchman store, located at 499 Lake Arrowhead Road in Myrtle Beach, just after 3 a.m. Friday morning. The 54-year-old clerk reported that a masked man, armed with a revolver, forced him to hand over the cash in both registers. The clerk told officers that he was restocking some items on the side of the register when the robber walked in and stated “this is a hold up.”
Then, the gunman demanded the clerk give him the money from his wallet as well as his cell phone. The clerk told officers that the masked gunman was yelling “I’m gonna shoot the [expletive] out of you if you don’t hurry up,” and “you’re not moving fast enough.”
The thief also stole Black & Milds and about six cartons of Newport 100s cigarettes before forcing the clerk into the store’s back office and demanding the clerk lie on the floor. The suspect then tied the victim’s hands behind his back with the mouse from the office computer. The clerk waited until he heard the store door close before getting up and freeing himself.
The clerk was not hurt during the robbery, Lt. Denis confirms. The robber is described as a black male with a slim build, standing about 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, gloves and gray mask.
Horry County Police ask that anyone with information about this robbery or the identity of the thief to call the tip line at 843-915-8477.
