CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police identified the man who used a ransom note to steal narcotics from a Walgreens pharmacy in Carolina Forest in November.
A post on the department’s Facebook page says Zachary Cook is wanted for the Nov. 21 armed robbery after he allegedly put a ransom note on the counter of the pharmacy while the employee was helping another customer.
The employee handed the note to the store pharmacist, who asked the robber to come to the next open window. The pharmacist showed the robber, later identified as Cook, according to police, where the safe was located that held the narcotics. Cook reportedly jumped the counter and when the safe was opened, he grabbed a handful of the drugs, jumped back over the counter and ran out of the store.
Even though the robber was wearing a bandana over his face, police were able to identify Cook as the thief through store surveillance video and the victim’s description of the robber.
The robber was seen on video leaving the store walking toward West Perry Road. A witness told officers they saw the suspect get into a black Mustang and leave the area on Highway 501.
Police identified Cook as the suspect Wednesday morning and encourage anyone with information related to his whereabouts to call the police department at 843.915.8477.
