HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Police are investigating a death in Conway.

Captain John Harrelson, with the Horry County Police Department, says officers responded to the 4600 block of Adrian Highway for a death investigation early Tuesday. A section of Adrian Hwy was closed. The road reopened around 8:30 a.m.

“Our preliminary investigation does not indicate connections to any other recent incidents, however we will continue to evaluate potential connectivity as our investigations proceed,” Harrelson also said.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the victim as Terry Blye, 58, of Conway.

Fowler also said this incident was reported to the HCPD shortly before 1 a.m. on Tuesday. An autopsy will be conducted this afternoon and HCPD are investigating.

“It’s got everybody in the neighborhood a little shook up and a little scared that, you know, it could be them next,” Phillip Tharp, a neighbor, said.

This homicide is the third death investigation Horry County Police have responded to in less than a week.

This past weekend, a father and son were shot to death about five miles away from Adrian Highway on Highway 19.

Last Wednesday, a man was murdered in the parking lot of the Food Lion in Longs during a violent, multi-state crime spree.

“We have devoted all of our resources,” Chief Joseph Hill told News13 Monday. “Our officers are tired, but they are focused and they are determined to bring these folks to justice.”

Chief Hill said more than 100 additional officers were in Horry County over the weekend and that the department is working with local and federal agencies.

“I think the cops should be patrolling more on these back roads,” Lori Pedrick, who lives in Horry County said. “It’s really bad.”
