A Cinco De Mayo celebration turned violent in Maryland, with a police officer arrested for assault.

Anne Arundel County Police Officer Michael Flaig, 31, was arrested and charged with second degree assault and public intoxication Wednesday morning after a bar fight went south. According to charging documents, Flaig was being inappropriate with a woman and was repeatedly asked to stop by the victim.

At around midnight the fight spilled out into the street and ended up in an alley.

The charging documents say Flaig bit the victim in the testicles and fled the scene. Witnesses called for an ambulance and then noticed that Flaig, who they thought had fled, actually came back and sat at the bar at a nearby pub.

Flaig was arrested without incident. He’s been released on bond and will be suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
