YORK, Pa. – Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who was dressed as a woman when he robbed a York County bank over the weekend.

York Area Regional police said the man was wearing an orange wig, a green floral shirt, and sunglasses when he robbed the bank at 235 St Charles Way, in York Township, around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Bank employees told officers they saw the man approaching the bank and were suspicious due to his appearance. Once he was in the bank, he approached the counter and displayed a note which read, “put the money in the bag.” At the same time, he put a bag with a shoulder strap on the counter and held it open.

Police released surveillance photos on Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 717-741-1259 and ask for Detective Hopple.
