The Horry County Police Department is investigating a reported armed robbery at a Loris-area store.
Officers were dispatched to Sunny Stop, located in the 1700-block of US-701 North, Thursday around 7:40 p.m.
According to a police report, a clerk told investigators a man entered the store, pointed a gun and demanded money. The clerk stated he handed over an undisclosed amount of money before the man ran out of the store.
“He did give the suspect all of the money because he was in fear that if the suspect thought that there was more money, then the suspect would shoot him like what has happened at similar stores in the past in the area,” the report says.
A second employee was in a back office at the time of the alleged crime, but did not witness the incident.
The report further states a customer in the parking lot approached the clerk shortly after the suspect left. The report says when the clerk explained what happened, the customer said they had to go home but would return to speak with officers about the incident. Responding officers say the customer never returned.
Horry County and Columbus County police were unable to locate a suspect in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Horry County Police Department.
