MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police are investigating what has been classified as a murder after a man was found dead in the back bedroom of a home in Myrtle Beach late Sunday night.
According to an incident report from Horry County Police, officers arrived at a home on Gwen Drive in the Socastee area of Myrtle Beach around 11:15 p.m. Sunday in reference to a shooting. Officers note that upon arrival three people were discovered inside the home. Police say an older man, woman, and younger male were inside the home, although the police report does not reveal the names or ages of the three people.
Once inside, officers discovered a black male in the back bedroom “laying on his back” who appeared to have been shot, the report states. Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden identified the person as Tyrice Smalls, 36, of Myrtle Beach. McSpadden says Smalls died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The scene was roped off by officers, and the three people who were inside the home were separated and placed in different patrol cars as investigators searched through the crime scene, the report details. The report does not state any arrests have been made in the case.
