MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A third person is in custody in relation to a Myrtle Beach murder investigation, according to Cpl. Tom Vest, with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Myrtle Beach police officers, working with the US Marshals Task Force, arrested Joerael Lamar Bratten, 26, of New Haven, CT, on Friday. Bratten is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Bratten appeared in court on Friday, The judge said he is not in a position to set bond on the murder charge, that a circuit court judge will set bond for that charge. The state requested bond be denied on the attempted murder charge. Bratten is a convicted felon in Conneticuit and was caught attempting to flee to Connecticut.
At the end of the hearing, the Judge denied him bond.
Two people were previously arrested in the case: Walter Allen Cuttino, of Georgetown, and Shamia Janea Maness, of Greensboro, NC. Cuttino is charged with murder and attempted murder. Maness is charged with obstruction of justice.
Anthony McNeil, 23, died after being shot on Tuesday night.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1300 Dunbar Street.
Grand Strand Medical Center was on lockdown for hours as a result of this incident.
The other victim is expected to recover, according to Myrtle Beach police.
The investigation is still ongoing.
