MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – Horry County police have identified the man who reportedly carjacked a vehicle at the Inlet Square Mall and crashed the car on Highway 707.

Police says a stolen gray Jeep crashed on Highway 707 near Bay Road Tuesday just before noon. The driver of the stolen vehicle was Shaquille Brandon Dozier, 25, according to police.

Horry County Police Department Captain John Harrelson says officers responded to a report of a carjacking at the Inlet Square Mall around 10:35 a.m. Tuesday morning. The police report says the woman was flung from her vehicle and thrown to the ground by Dozier, who jumped into the driver’s seat and took off in the 2015 Jeep 4-door Rubicon.

A responding officer saw Dozier in the stolen vehicle while on the way to the scene. Officers then attempted to stop the suspect, but Dozier attempted to get away, reaching speeds over 101 m.p.h. of Holmestown Road, before wrecking on Highway 707 near Bay Road, according to police.

Dozier is charged with failure to stop for a blue light, no driver’s license, giving false information to officials, and carjacking. Dozier’s bond is set at $52,487.50.
