HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – Hartsville police say they’ve arrested the man accused of murdering a woman Wednesday night.
Phillip Franklin has been charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful carrying of a handgun, pointing and presenting a firearm and dicharging a firearm in city limits. He is being held in the Darlington County Detention Center.
Lt. Mark Blair with the Hartsville Police Department confirms police were called to a shooting around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of 8th Street.
EMS transported one victim to the hospital, where the coroner responded and pronounced the woman dead.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the victim as 28-year-old Keiyatta Smith of Hartsville. An autopsy will be done Friday, according to the coroner.
