Police arrest Tennessee man for armed robbery near Myrtle Beach hotel

Myrtle Beach Police arrested a Tennessee man they say robbed someone near a beachfront hotel Tuesday afternoon..

It happened near the 3 Palms Oceanfront Hotel at 703 S. Ocean Blvd around 3:40 pm, said Lt. Joey Crosby of the Myrtle Beach Police.

Soon after, police noticed a car nearby that matched the description of a getaway vehicle, Crosby said. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it took off, Crosby said.

Police monitored the vehicle’s location for about 25 minutes and then were able to stop it near the 2300 block of S. Kings Hwy and the driver of the vehicle was arrested, Crosby said.

Ricky Lee Bender Jr, 30, of Blountville TN, has been charged with failure to stop for blue light, driving without a license, possession of stolen goods, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, assault and battery 1^st degree, and attempted armed robbery.
