LAURINBURG, NC (WBTW) – Laurinburg police are investigating a shooting that left a 12-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man wounded in the hospital.
Assistant Chief Cliff Sessoms says the call for a shooting on Caledonia Road at Pitt Street came in Friday at 11:53 p.m.
The 23-year old was shot in the upper torso and was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital then transferred because of the seriousness of his injuries. The 12-year-old was shot in the lower leg but has since been released from the hospital.
Sessoms says the investigation is ongoing, but officers issued warrants for 18-year-old Paul Benthall III. According to the Laurinburg Police Department’s Facebook page, Benthall was taken into custody after surrendering to police.
Benthall was wanted for attempted murder, assualt with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and other charges.
