CONWAY – Police have arrested one man and are still looking for another man in connection with a shooting incident that happened at a Conway convenience store.
According to arrest warrants, Kenneth Levern Miller was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and pointing a firearm at a person without appropriate grounds for self defense.
Police are still looking for Thomas Bradley Thompson on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle.
Horry County Police Department investigated a report of shots fired at the Sunhouse convenience store off of Highway 90 Wednesday.
Lt. Raul Denis says a call came in around 10:45 a.m. about someone shooting. On the way to the scene, the officer was advised that a man was shooting at another man in reference to him trying to steal his car, but the man with the gun had secured the weapon in his car.
The incident report says when the officer spoke to the arrestee at the scene, the man told the officer that his mother’s car had been stolen.
The arrestee said he initially thought the car had been repossessed, but after he called the finance company, the company advised him of the car’s location by the GPS tracking device the company placed on the vehicle.
The report says the man’s mother stayed home to report the car stolen while he left to find the stolen car, which he located at the Sunhouse.
In the report, officer say witnesses told them that the arrestee “arrived and fired shots with his gun and attempted to hold suspect 1 on scene until police arrived.”
“In the course of their interactions, (the arrestee) fired warning shots,” Denis said.
The man in the stolen car fled the area but officers have identified the man.
No one was injured in the shooting.
