MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The public will have the chance to comment on a proposed subdivision and new oceanfront hotel later this month, according to City of Myrtle Beach planning officials.

The City of Myrtle Beach Planning Commission discussed plans for the proposed Living Dunes community with developers and designers Tuesday afternoon. Plans submitted to the city show developers want to subdivide 42.86 acres of land at US-17 Business and 82nd Parkway for single-family homes, duplex cottages, townhomes and live/work units.

City Planner Allison Hardin told News13 plans for the project closely mirror a community already built in Beaufort County. She says plans for Living Dunes also include a boardwalk, walking trails and pocket parks.

The City of Myrtle Beach Planning Commission also reviewed plans for the proposed oceanfront Bayshore Hotel. If built, the hotel would occupy a piece of property on North Ocean Boulevard at 6th Avenue North.

Hardin says both projects will be up for public comment at the planning commission’s next meeting on February 16. If the commission has a favorable opinion on the Living Dunes project proposal, Hardin says it can move forward.

Plans for the Bayshore Hotel would need to approved by Myrtle Beach City Council following a recommendation from the planning commission.
