GEORGETOWN, SC (Press Release) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office can confirm that an airplane crashed in Winyah Bay near North Island in Georgetown County.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol was dispatched to Winyah Bay to the report of an airplane crash. The pilot of the small single-engine airplane was the only person on board, and he has been rescued with no injuries.
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has notified the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
