TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) – Hundreds of mail envelops and packages were found by residents dumped into Lake Swamp just off of Gardens Mill Pond Road in Timmonsville.

Most of the mail is from the City Of Florence area.

Everything from packages, bills and even holiday gifts were in the water.

Zachary Ward, lives nearby says the pond is a place that he comes to have peace and to be with nature.

He started removing the mail from the water for fear that it would impact fish or beavers.

Ward said, “People aren’t going to get their Christmas cards or packages that they were expecting. Christmas gifts ordered offline.”

“People dump tires and TVs. You kind of get used to that living in South Carolina but this is a little overboard,” Ward adds.

Florence County Major Mike Nunn says a deputy was called to the scene and filed a report. Investigators will begin a full investigation Monday morning.
