MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTW) – Richard Petty Motorsports unveiled a new paint scheme on Tuesday to support Hurricane Matthew relief efforts.
The design features Red Cross logos and a number people can text to make donations. Brian Scott, driver of the No. 44 Ford, will race the newly designed car this Sunday at Martinsville Speedway.
Petty was inspired to make the design after seeing Hurricane damage in places like Lumberton.
“I guess you just sit back and say, ‘Look how lucky we were that it didn’t happen to us,’ Petty said. “But then, on the other hand, you say we were lucky enough, what can we do to help those people. This is just saying – we’re lucky, you’re not. We’re going to try to do everything we can do to help out.”
Fans can help people affected by Hurricane Matthew by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting the word MATTHEW to 90999 which will be on the Ford Fusion this weekend.
