HORRY COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Schools named its “Teacher of the Year” during a special banquet Tuesday evening in Myrtle Beach.
The district awarded Ocean Bay Elementary School’s Shannon Peterson with the top honor. According to the school’s website, Peterson works in child development.
Peterson was chosen among five finalists for Horry County Schools’ Teacher of the Year. The finalists were chosen from a group of 10 semi-finalists named in January. The other four finalists for the award included:
- Londa Cross – Academy for Technology and Academics
- Eric McKinney – Black Water Middle School
- Steven Panamarczuk – Forestbrook Middle School
- Martha Hutchinson – Homewood Elementary
According to the district, the Teacher of the Year award was awarded following a series of classroom observations among all of the finalists.
