A man wanted as a person of interest in the Friday night deadly shooting of a Longs teen boy is now in police custody, Horry County Police say.

Horry County Police were searching for Rodrez Daquell Stanley, 21 years old, of Longs in connection with the shooting death of 14-year-old Taizaun Dewitt.

Police say around 8:40 Friday night, officers were notified that a teen had been shot and was being transported by another person to Seacoast Medical Center in Little River.

Officers arrived and were immediately informed that the Dewitt had died from the gunshot wound at the hospital.

Several detectives were dispatched immediately and they linked the incident back to a home on Collins Circle in the Longs community.

Stanley turned himself in to police on an unrelated warrant on Tuesday afternoon, said Lt. Raul Denis of the Horry County Police.
