BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – One person is recovering after they were shot in the parking lot of a Pee Dee inn, according to Bennettsville Police.
Lt. Larry Turner says officers responded to the Marlboro Inn, located on the 15/401 Bypass, around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found one person shot.
Turner says investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a verbal fight in the parking lot. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
Detectives are now questioning witnesses and attempting to identify a motive behind the shooting. Turner says right now, it is unclear if the victim and suspect knew each other.
According to Lt. Tuner, a person of interest has been detained but no charges have been filed as of this posting.
