MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will host its third ticket kick-off event Thursday night but it will be the first one as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

The exhibition will feature a big league experience for members of the Junior Pelicans. The game will be produced like a regular Pelicans home game with between inning contests, walk-up music, video board headshots, and more. The game will run from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Fans who wish to purchase tickets in-person at the box office will be able to do so beginning on Thursday, March 5 at 5:00 p.m. General Manager Andy Milovich hopes the new affiliation with the cubs will draw in more crowds.

“To tie into a truly national brand with the most passionate fan base in all of sports is an incredible opportunity so we think it’s going to have an enormous impact on us and the community from a travel standpoint,” Milovich said.

For the second straight year, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Travel Baseball Club (TBC) will play an exhibition game at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The night will also feature Swings for Charity to benefit the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues.

“Like all non profits there’s never enough money. So all of the ways that we can connect with the community to help raise funds so that these kids can enjoy not only baseball but we’ve got a special needs program with regards to a playground,” Grand Strand Miracle League Board member Guy Schuman said.

Following the exhibition game, at approximately 6:00 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to take batting practice on the field in exchange for a donation to the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues. For a $10.00 donation fans can take 10 swings from home plate at TicketReturn.com Field. The entire $10.00 will go directly to the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues
