MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Wilmington Blue Rocks 8-4 and 3-1 in Sunday’s double header at TicketReturn.com Field.

In the second game of the doubleheader, pitcher Zach Hedges allowed an RBI double in the first inning and proceeded to retire 20 of the next 21 hitters. The only baserunner he allowed after the first inning came on a one-out walk in the sixth.

In the tenth, with the game tied 1-1 Austin Bailey ripped a two-run triple to the right field corner to give the Blue Rocks a 3-1 lead.

In the first game of the double header, the Blue Rocks bats took advantage of eight hits against Pelicans starter Jonathan Martinez (3-3).

Myrtle Beach and Wilmington play their series finale tomorrow night at 5:05 p.m.
