DILLON, SC (WBTW) – A North Carolina woman will spend the next 15 years in prison for driving drunk and causing a crash that killed one person and severely injured a Dillon police officer.

Jenni Hunt, 26, of Maxton, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for felony DUI resulting in death. Hunt was driving drunk when she crashed into Dillon Police Officer Jacob Richardson on July 6, 2014.

There were five people in Hunt’s car when she collided with the police cruiser on Highway 9. One of the passengers, identified as Bobbie Britt, 29, of Pembroke, died as a result of that crash.

Richardson, the officer involved in the crash, was heading to a disturbance call at a bar when his car was hit by Hunt. As a result, Richardson was severely injured.

Hunt was also sentenced to 10 years for reckless homicide. The sentences will run concurrently.
