HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – One person has died in a house fire on Friday, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee.
Hardee was on the scene at the home along Clyde School Road in Hartsville at around noon and pronounced one person dead.
He later identified the person as Gerry Lynn Byrd, 54, of Hartsville. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated by the Darlington County Coroner’s Office and SLED Arson, which is standard in fire deaths.
The Darlington County Fire District responded to a reported structure fire around 11:30 a.m., according to a press release from Darlington County Emergency Management Services. The first arriving units reportedly saw heavy smoke coming from the home and crews put the fire out shortly after.
There were no reported injuries to emergency personnel.
