CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Fire officials say a wildfire burned through Chesterfield County, north of Patrick off Highway 1.
According to Director of Chesterfield Emergency Management Harold Hainey, the fire started at 12:03 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Hainey said buses were evacuating residents to the local sheriff’s office.
Fire officials said at least 11 fire units were on scene alongside several rescue units battling the blaze.
The Forestry Commission circled the area in a plane.
No word on what caused the fire.
