Victim identified in Lake City motorcycle crash

LAKE CITY (WBTW) – One person was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening, according to Florence County Coroner, Keith von Lutcken.

The Florence County Coroner has identified the victim as Victor McKenzie, of Lake City.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website, the crash happened around 7:47 p.m., on South Morris Street at Dogwood Lane in Lake City.

According to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, two motorcycles crashed traveling West on South Morris Street around 7:40 p.m. Saturday.

Mckenzie was driving a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, when he hit a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle from behind, tossing himself off the left side of the road and hitting a ditch.  The driver of the Suzuki ran off the right side of the road and also hit a ditch.

The driver of the Suzuki was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Florence County Coroner’s Office is investigating the crash.
