FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence police say one person was killed and others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Palmetto Street Tuesday morning.

Lieutenant Robert Drulis with the police department says officers were called to the crash on Highway 76, also known as Palmetto Street, at 7:16 a.m. The 3-car collision happened between Pettigrew Street and Park Avenue.

It was first reported that one person was killed in the crash and others were injured, but late Tuesday afternoon, Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken reported a second person died from the crash.

The coroner’s office says the two victims were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. They have been identified as Larry Whitley, 42, and Brenda Witoshnsky, 58, both of Florence. Whitley died at the scene of the crash and Witoshnsky was taken to the hospital where she died hours later.

Police have not said what caused the crash.
