PAMPLICO, SC (WBTW) – A water main line break is impacting drinking water in some parts of Pamplico Monday, according to town officials.
The broken line impacts 2121 S. Pamplico Hwy. only. The town is advising Hannah-Pamplico Elementary/Middle School, Hannah-Pamplico High School and its district office to boil water for at least one minute prior to drinking or cooking.
“We feel that the drinking water system serving the area has not become contaminated, but to be safe, you are advised to boil your drinking and cooking water,” Mayor Gene Gainey wrote in a notice.
The notice further advised any ice made from water prior to 5 p.m. Monday that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking.
Teams with the Pamplico Public Works Department are working to fix the break and the issue.
The town or South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control will release an updated alert when it is OK to stop boiling water.
