The West Florence Fire Rescue hosted their first annual ‘Family Holiday Festival’.
“Today was just our day to give back to the community,” said assistant chief at West Florence Dwight Mobley.
Saturday’s rain showers didn’t stop community members from showing their support for first responders.
“It’s been a rough year, we’ve had a lot of traumatic events that have happened, with the storms and the shootings in Florence,” said Mobley.
The free event included music, food, bounce houses and vendors. Santa Claus also made a guest appearance and met with kids and their families.
“We all come together with the community just to have some fun and relax and enjoy fellowship,” said Mobley.
A community member who lost her husband last year says this festival was special for her. “My late husband was a firefighter, so I go and support anything I can for the firefighters,” said Beth Sedden.
Vendors also got the chance to start selling Christmas decorations, cards, and wrapping gifts early.
“I have enjoyed it and I already asked if I could come back next time they have an event here,” said vendor Cynthia Collins.
The West Florence fire rescue says they will continue this tradition for first responders, families and the community.
