MARION, SC (WBTW) – The Marion County coroner’s office says a second person died as a result of a car crash Monday night.

Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported Monday that one person died in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on US 76 in Marion County.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m., Monday evening.  The driver of a 2003 Hyundai died and a female passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson says the passenger died Wednesday in the hospital. The driver, who died Monday, has been identified as Brooks McKay, 28, of Myrtle Beach. The coroner identifies the deceased passenger as Bonnie Heath, 36, of Carthage.

Jones says both cars were traveling west on US 76 when the Hyundai ran into the back of a tractor-trailer. The truck driver was not injured.
