A group of women learned how to fight back thanks to a free class from the Pee Dee Coalition.
The non-profit organization hosted a Rape Agreesion Defense (RAD) class at Maxwell Baptist Church to show women what to do when being attacked.
“Being able to defend themselves if they are in a situation as well as it helps also in the prevention aspect and empowers women to feel comfortable saying no and setting bounderies,” said program coordinator for Pee Dee Coalition, Mackenzie Clementson.
Clementson taught how to block, strike, and other skills that women might need during a dangerous situation.
“We offer an education portion, which is the start of it just to reduce your risk and being aware as well as the hands on training,” said Clementson.
Each class is about 8 hours long, and focuses on women’s strenghts.
“I hope everyone who come to a class feels thankful. I think it’s wonderful for everyone to know about it because you never know the situation you’ll be in,” said Clementson.
