The Florence Wildcats hosted an event for the law enforcement officers who were killed and wounded back on October 3 at the Vintage place neighborhood.

The team had their third season opener Sunday night at the Pearl Moore gym, as they took on the Fayetteville panthers. Many dedicated the game to the seven law enforcement officers.

“We need to get this win for them. It’s for them. It hits close to home, so we have to bring it,” said two Wildcat players.

Dozens of people came out to watch the Wildcats play, but aside from the scoreboard, many tickets sold during the game are helping the law enforcement officers and their families.

“All the funds being raised tonight will be going towards the Florence 7 to help them and their families. This is to let them know that our community is still with them, and that the Florence wildcats organization is going to do what they can to help in any way,” said assistant coach Corry Morrison.

The outpouring support could be see in the stands, as people wore their ‘Florence strong’ shirts.

“Florence 7 is very important to us. Our community is very important to us and the wildcats are community oriented,” said Morrison.
