A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Florence County Thursday evening.
It happened near Deep River Street and Highway 52 in Lake City, according to Lake City Police Chief Kipp Coker.
Chief Coker said he arrived on scene around 6:20 p.m. and the South Carolina Highway Patrol has been called in to assist. The vehicle that hit the person remained on scene.
Lake City police public information officer Amy Pringle tells News13 that Highway Patrol has identified the pedestrian as 53-year-old Alphonsa Washington, of Lake City.
Highway Patrol has ruled this an accident.
Lake City Police, Lake City fire crews, and SCHP are involved in the investigation.
